The 2023 Environmental Leaders of Color - Summer Student Energy & Environmental Program for Teens

START DATE: July 05, 2023
VENUE: At a community center in multiple locations throughout Westchester County

The 2023 Environmental Leaders of Color – Summer Student Energy & Environmental Program for Teens will begin on July 5th at a community center in multiple locations throughout Westchester County. The program aims to expose young people from marginalized communities to the adverse impact of climate change and their roles in climate solutions. Climate change will disproportionately impact communities of color and communities with limited resources. Young people in these communities must become aware of the problem, its impact on their lives, and their power to elicit change through education and advocacy. Preparing the next generation to live and work in a climate-conscious world is an all-hands-on-deck issue.

This year.s students will learn why clean drinking water is essential to human health, which methods and materials civilizations have used to purify water, how pre-industrial people developed ingenious technologies to collect and transport water to their cities and farms, how moving water can be converted into mechanical energy, how water is used to generate electric power, and why water is being looked at as a source of clean fuel.
