Advanced Computer Program for High School Students - Facilitators/Teacher

Environmental Leaders of Color, a Mount Vernon-based non-profit organization,
spearheads a program to impart advanced computer science education to high school
students from socially and economically vulnerable backgrounds. Our Technology &
The Environment Saturday morning program is looking for an instructor to teach
students the basics of Coding, Cyber Security, AI and Robotics. As the instructor, you
will lead the class with engaging lesson plans with support from assistant teachers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commit to instructing high school students who possess sufficient experience and knowledge in Coding,
    Cyber Security, AI and Robotics.
  • The classes are scheduled from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturdays at the SUNY Westchester – Mount
    Vernon Extension.
  • The selected individual will be responsible for establishing a comprehensive lesson plan, aiding students
    during the sessions and facilitating the curriculum.
  • Moreover, the candidate must demonstrate an ability to engage with high school students and offer
    personalized assistance to those who may encounter comprehension challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Eighteen years or older
  • Available to commute to Mount Vernon on Saturday mornings,
    available for weekly Zoom meetings with the Team
  • Equipped with a formal background and education in computer science, and
    have the ability to keep the class fun and engaging

Pay range:

$30 – $35/Hour
